Germany's Postbank, which is buying mortgage lender BHW for almost 1.8 billion euros ($2.17 billion), sees little change in results next year, its chief executive was quoted as saying in a German newspaper.

"We will not improve our result strongly in the next year but also not worsen it," Wulf von Schimmelmann said in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung on Sunday.

"A lot depends on the interest side. An increase in the prime rate, as it is being discussed, would help us," he said.

Schimmelmann said that he expected significant synergies with BHW and that he saw a three-digit millions of euros contribution to earnings from BHW in less than five years' time.
